WILSON/jones is the moniker used for the collaborative musical efforts of JIM WILSON and PHIL JONES,
two notable veteran Los Angeles musicians known for their work with many different artists.
WILSON/jones is set to release a new album called "Through My Eyes," once again showcasing their
love for 'real music’ featuring stellar songs like the title track and "You Don't Have To Cry", recorded in
Muscle Shoals and featuring SPOONER OLDHAM on keyboards and KELVIN HOLLY on guitar. . The duo
serve up 10 tracks on the new release including standout tracks like “Broken,” “The Sun Ain’t Coming
Out Today” (with guitars by THE CARS’ ELLIOTT EASTON and THE BLACK CROWES’ MARC FORD) and
the funky soul sound of “Pushin’.”
JIM WILSON is a singer/songwriter/guitarist who has gained a reputation for his soulful vocals and
powerful guitar work in bands like MOTOR SISTER, MOTHER SUPERIOR and ROLLINS BAND. For the past
20 years, he has provided background vocals and bass with U2/BOB DYLAN/NEIL YOUNG producer
DANIEL LANOIS including the soundtrack for the award-winning video game, "Red Dead Redemption II."
Wilson has also played guitar with the legendary band SPARKS, notably in 2008 when the band played
each of their 21 albums in their entirety over 21 nights in London. Additionally, Wilson has toured with
country songstress, EMMYLOU HARRIS.
PHIL JONES , drummer and producer, can be heard on classic recordings by TOM PETTY, ROY ORBISON,
CRACKER and CRABBY APPLETON. As a drummer, and percussionist, he has performed on stage and in the
studio with TOM PETTY and THE HEARTBREAKERS, JOE WALSH, RANDY NEWMAN, the WADDY WACHTEL
BAND, TERRY REID, PEGI YOUNG & THE SURVIVORS, JOHNNY RIVERS, DUANE EDDY, MIKE CAMPBELL’S
DIRTY KNOBS and MARC FORD. Jones owns and operates ROBUST RECORDINGS in Los Angeles where he
assumes the role as producer/engineer/mixer for many artists including WILSON / jones.
In 2018, JIM WILSON & PHIL JONES released their debut album together, “Now Playing,” about which
SHINDIG! Magazine wrote, “All kinds of early ‘70s feels abound on each track. An album that gets better
with each listen.” After releasing an EP in 2019 called “Rockers Delight” (featuring a guest vocal from
Bernard Fowler, of the Rolling Stones), WILSON/jones started work on the new release, “Through My
Eyes.”
A kaleidoscope of songs and sounds, “Through My Eyes” takes the listener on an authentic musical journey
of rock and soul tunes full of melodic hooks. Tracks like “Speak My Mind,” “Make Believe” and “One Good
Turn” prove that Mr. Wilson and Mr. Jones definitely have a thing going on!
